My two oldest have been sent off to college (boy and girl twins!). And despite our very efficient packing and moving of them into their respective dorm rooms, a few items were left behind. So immediately after returning from Syracuse and Los Angeles I packed up boxes for each of them with the missing items and a few goodies thrown in for good measure.
As I considered what to send to my daughter Riley, a fun idea came to me. Riley adores fashion--has a wardrobe to die for that includes loads of jewelry (go figure?). I decided that with each care package I'd include a big, blingy cocktail ring or two for her and document them here.
The first two are simple wire wrapped rings with large focals and vermeil beads wrapped at the base. I don't think she reads my neglected blog, so I don't think I'm spoiling the surprise...
Enjoy girlie!

It's New. It's Informative.
A new segment on MEG Jewelry Blog will have weekly updates on featured MEG Jewelry & Accessories. Updated on Wednesdays we will focus on a showing you our favorite accessory of the week and great ideas to pair with it! We couldn’t help but jump a bit ahead of ourselves and start today, but look out for next Wednesday for a super fun SNEAK PEEK.
Back to this week, we wanted to focus on our soft and floral headband, the Tiye. Subtle floral designs create a delicate cascade on the side of the hair. Just enough of a statement for individuality we wanted to pair it with a elegant gown. Essense of Australia has a beautiful Godavari taffeta gown that features a floral accent on the bodice. A classic dress that accents the Tiye Headband perfectly!
Don’t forget the shoes. Badgley Mischka has a pair of pumps that complete this assemble. A t-strap evening sandal these heels feature a ruffle flower accent. Show them off at the ideal moment, the garter toss! Lastly, for another accent to our look you might want to wear a veil. This classic Sara Gabriel drop veil has hand pieced Chantilly lace at bottom edge. This veil is a graceful addition to the Tiye Headband and an elegant dress.
Happy weekend and keep updated with our new Fan Page on Facebook and Twitter!

Off to Africa
I believe a big problem in our world is not focusing on the medical, educational, emotional, physical, etc... needs of women. We, at MEG Jewelry, celebrate and help support an agency in Ethiopia called Yezelalem Minch (Neverending eternal spring). Check them out on facebook at Yezelalem Minch. YZM (Yezelalem Minch) supports widows and orphaned children by educating them and teaching them ways to support themselves. This even includes making and selling jewelry at markets. We have been fortunate to work with them several times this year. And we will be working with them again this week. If you would like more information check out their facebook or feel free to contact me directly at nicole@megweddingjewelry.com or 563-252-1011
Here you see me shopping for some beautiful scarves and clothes made by women who graduated from the YZM sewing program.

sneak peak of 2011!
Drum roll please. This upcoming season is all about hair jewelry for me! Here are a few beauts from the upcoming line. The "necklace" is first designed as hair jewelry, but equally beautiful as a necklace. The lace comb is elegant and spectacular. And of course I had to add a pic of my favorite necklace. I want EVERYONE to own this necklace, it is so gorgeous! Pre-order yours today!
Featured on Etsy Treasury today!

New Tribal Ear to Nose Chains Available
I have to admit this is one of my favorite creations. My first love is tribal jewelry and there is something so raw about nose chains. I have been playing and coming up with new spins on this design and this is what I came up with:

New Website and New Jewelry
I have a new website at www.afriquelachic.com. The site cost some blood, sweat, and tears but it is worth it after all the hard work. I came up with a lot of ideas and my son brought them to life. I didn't want the usual cookie cutter turnkey site that looked like everyone elses attached to a bunch of monthly fees so I decided to take the long route and build one from scratch. The site has some behind the scene features that makes my life a little bit easier so I'm pumped about it....so pumped that I listed over 1000 new pieces.
On etsy I had limited categories, fees up the ying yang, and restrictions on what I could sell... but with my new site I feel like a run away slave finally heading home lol....and that's a fabulous feeling:).
Now with this project out of the way there will come shiet loads of new jewelry, some travel, some much needed sleep, and small projects around the home....my back yard is totally over grown and I need to pull out the chain saw and my rubber boots...sigh.
Here are a few pictures of the new jewelry listed at www.afriquelachic.com:
